A note from the chef

"Fire doesn't rush.
Neither do we."

I grew up watching my grandmother cook over an open pit in middle Tennessee. No thermometers, no timers — just attention. Ember & Oak is my attempt to bring that patience to a Nashville dining room.

Everything we serve touches the hearth. Our beef dry-ages in-house for 45 days. Our vegetables come from fourteen farms within an hour's drive. And our oak is split by hand every morning before the first ticket prints.

Word of Mouth

Nashville keeps coming back

"The ribeye ruined every other steakhouse for me. Watching them pull it off the coals from our table — that's dinner and a show."
Danielle R. · East Nashville
"We booked the private room for my father's 70th. The staff treated it like it was their own family's celebration. Flawless night."
James K. · Franklin
"Even the bread course is an event. Came for a work dinner, came back three days later with my wife. The burnt-honey custard is unreal."
Priya S. · The Gulch

Questions

Before you arrive

We hold our twelve bar seats and two hearth-side tables for walk-ins every night. Arrive before 6 PM or after 8:30 PM for the best odds — or call ahead and we'll tell you honestly how the night looks.

Yes. Note it on your reservation and Chef Whitfield's team will build alternatives — often a dedicated dish, not just an omission. Gluten-free hearth bread is baked daily; vegan tasting available with 24 hours' notice.

Smart casual. You'll see date-night dresses next to nice denim, and both belong. We only ask: no athletic wear after 6 PM, and leave the ballcaps at the door on weekends.

Private dining books 4–8 weeks out for weekends, and holiday season fills by early October. Weeknights are often available within two weeks. Submit the reservation form with "7+ / private dining" and our events lead will call the same day.
