Services

Two kinds of clients. One tidy ledger.

Whether you bring us a W-2 and a shoebox or a multi-entity business, the engagement starts the same way: understand the whole picture, then simplify it.

For Individuals & Families

Personal tax, minus the dread

  • Federal & Arizona return preparation

W-2, 1099, rental, investment, and multi-state returns, reviewed by a CPA before filing.

  • Life-event tax guidance

Marriage, home purchase, new baby, equity compensation, inheritance — priced before the surprise, not after.

  • IRS letters & amended returns

We read the scary envelope for you, translate it to plain English, and respond on your behalf.

  • Retirement & withholding checkups

A mid-year look at withholding and contributions so your refund is a plan, not a lottery.

Your back office, on retainer

  • Monthly bookkeeping & clean-up

Reconciled accounts and readable monthly statements — including rescue work on messy years.

  • Business & entity returns

S-corp, partnership, and Schedule C filings, plus 1099 issuance and TPT/sales tax support.

  • Entity structure & S-corp analysis

A yearly math check on whether your structure still saves you money as you grow.

  • Payroll & contractor compliance

Setup and oversight so filings land on time and classifications hold up to scrutiny.

What to bring (it's less than you think)

New clients often apologize for their paperwork. Don't. Bring what you have from the list, and we'll build a personal checklist for anything missing. A secure upload portal is available if you'd rather skip the folder entirely.

Prefer a printable version? Ask at your consult and we'll send the full checklist for your situation — individual, rental owner, or business.

  • Last two years of filed returns (if we didn't prepare them)

About ClearLedger

Established, unhurried, and allergic to jargon

ClearLedger was founded in 2009 by Priya Raman, CPA, after a decade in a national firm convinced her that most people don't need a bigger accounting firm — they need a calmer one. Today our four-person team serves about 400 households and 90 small businesses across the Valley, on purpose keeping the roster small enough that we recognize your voice on the phone.

We answer email in plain English, we quote fees before work begins, and we schedule every business client for quarterly check-ins — because the best tax outcomes are decided in July, not April.

Client Notes

The reviews read like exhaled breath

“Three years of unfiled returns and I was too embarrassed to call anyone. Priya's team sorted all of it without a single lecture, set up a payment plan, and now my quarterlies just… happen.”
M

Marisol G.

Freelance designer, Tempe

“The S-corp analysis alone paid for two years of their fees. Our quarterly calls are thirty minutes and I leave every one of them knowing exactly what to set aside. Best operational decision we've made.”
D

Derek W.

HVAC company owner, Mesa

“We moved from California mid-year with stock options vesting — a genuinely gnarly return. ClearLedger handled both states, explained every number, and had us filed three weeks early.”

Quarterly Planning

April is the scoreboard. The game is played all year.

Our planning clients meet with a CPA every quarter to review income, adjust estimates, and act on opportunities while they're still open — retirement contributions, timing of purchases, entity changes, Arizona credit strategies. Start with a free 20-minute consult; leave with at least one useful number.

  • Fixed quarterly fee, quoted in advance
  • Estimated payment vouchers prepared for you
  • Unlimited quick questions by email between sessions

Good Questions

Asked at nearly every first meeting

Flat fees, quoted before we start. Personal returns begin at $295, business returns at $850, and monthly bookkeeping packages at $425. Complexity (rentals, multi-state, equity comp) moves the quote — surprises on the invoice do not happen here.

No — catch-up work is a third of our practice and we've seen far worse than whatever is in your drawer. We pull your IRS transcripts, rebuild the missing years in order, and negotiate penalties and payment plans where the rules allow. Most multi-year catch-ups are resolved within one season.

Honest answer: W-2 employees with simple finances usually don't need it, and we'll say so. Business owners, freelancers, and anyone with variable income almost always recoup the fee — because deductions, entity elections, and retirement contributions all have deadlines that arrive before filing season does.

Yes. About half our clients never visit the office — documents go through a secure portal, signatures are electronic, and meetings happen by video or phone. That said, the office (and its coffee) is on Camelback Road whenever you'd rather sit across a desk.

Still deciding? A 20-minute call costs nothing and usually saves something.
